At the end of the work day yesterday, I discovered a problem with a product I have been maintaining for a customer. It was my mistake and I realized this defect had been in place for a very long time. Although it was late, I had decided I was going to work even later until the problem was solved. I had just finished composing my email to my customer about this new ‘crisis” and was about to hit the send button, when I decided to check-in for a moment and scan. I felt pain in my solar plexus and chest and became aware that I had a frightened part of my personality active. I took a deep breath and noticed my intention. I saw that my intention for trying to resolve this and send the email to my customer wasn’t because I thought it would be most supportive to the team, but because I had a frightened part that thought if I let everyone know what was going on, then I wouldn’t have to deal with a problem any longer that was causing me a lot of pain. I decided that the healthiest thing to do was to go home, get a good night’s sleep and tackle the problem with fresh eyes so I could do a quality job the next day and also follow up with my customer with an email that wasn’t charged with fear. I felt that I was in my integrity yesterday by not saying what my frightened parts felt so compelled to say.

Thank you for this sharing David, this is a wonderful reminder for me to scan and ask myself what my intention is. This gives me the opportunity to come into the present moment and choose responsibly.

Have a blessed day.

You’re welcome Sylvia. How was it helpful to you? Would you like to share an example?
