I think the most difficult thing about spiritual partnership is sharing what I see in others with them. It’s much easier not to share what we see in others, and for them not to share what they see in us, but without this sharing, there is no spiritual growth.

If you talk to another person long enough, they will say something that will “push your buttons” – when that happens, scan your physical sensations – and take a breath, wait a few seconds, in order to give your self time to respond, not react. Just taking the few seconds to do a body scan and not react immediately makes a huge difference. They are not the issue – your reaction to what they are saying is the issue.

Spiritual Partnership is a perfect topic for me today. This morning, I started to share what I thought I was noticing in my partner…who is also my spiritual partner. I felt pain/constriction in my chest/heart area. I looked at my intention, and what I became aware of was I wanted my partner to be different…it was beyond wanting to share what I noticed; I wanted to “share” with him so he would change his behavior…and then I might feel better and not have to look at what was being triggered inside of me. I chose not to say anything to my partner (which I am grateful for!).

About 20 years ago I got a book by Ken Keyes Jr.(now dead)”Your Road Map to Lifelong Happiness”. He said he quoted from Dr. Harvill Hendrix’s book “Geting the Love You Want” ” Your partner’s unconscious purpose in marrying you/ or living with you was to get you to help him/her finish his/her childhodd. And that is to get from you what your partner didn’t get from his/her parent.” You want your partner to change and really they want you to change!!!!!
